Evaporation Experiment.
Intro - We have been learning about evaporationEvaporation is when you change a liquid to a gas.
Aim - To evaporate copper sulfate (blue liquid).
Hypothesis - I think the copper sulfate will change to a gas, because we are heating it up and it will evaporate the liquid.
Equipment - copper sulfate solution, 250mL beaker, heat proof mat, evaporating basin, element, gauze mat.
Method
- Set up element.
- Add 100mL hot water to the beaker and place on the element.
- Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.
- Carefully, place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker.
- Turn on element to 8.
- Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute is forming.
- turn off the element- careful not to touch as will be hot for a long time.
