Pikelets
In Home Economics we made pikelets!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
Method
  1. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
  2. In another bowl beat the egg and sugar with a whisk until pale and thick.
  3. Add the egg mixture and the milk to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Gently heat a non-stick frying pan and drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture from the point of the spoon onto the surface.
  5. When bubbles start to burst on the top of the pikelets, turn them over and cook the second side until golden. Place in a clean tea towel to cool.
We took our time when we were cooking the pikelets and they ended up really good and the texture was good as well.

Dilution Experiment!

Dilution Experiment.
We have been learning about concentration and dilution, so did an experiment to see this happening.

Aim - To understand what dilution does

Method - So first we got 6 test tubes and put 10 mL in one of the test tubes and 5mL in the rest of the test tubes. Next we put in a pinch of potassium permanganate in to the first test tube with 10 mL of water then we put 5 mL of that mixture into the next test tube and mixed it, next we did the same to the next we put 5 mL into the next test tube and kept on doing that until the last one. It got lighter and lighter each time.

Equipment - Pipet, beaker, water, potassium permanganate, funnel, test tubes,

Results -

P.E blog - just dance

For P.E we got to choose what we got to do. Our choices were table tennis, juggling, just dance and other activities. I chose to just dance, and I did it with a group of girls. It was really fun and it actually got us doing exercise. At the end of the lesson we were all so tired and puffed out, it's a good exercise and i would reccomend it.

Home Economics - Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies

Hello! In home economics we made chocolate chip cookies.
 Ingredients
  • 100g butter
  • 1/2 cup chelsea white sugar
  • 1/2 cup chelsea soft brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Method:
  1. Soften butter, and add both sugars and cream these together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla then mix in the dry ingredients.
  2. Roll into medium sized balls, making sure the mixture is not to wet! Put on a well greased baking tray. They should not spread too much so flatten slightly. Bake at 180°C for 8-10 minutes.
Tip: you can easily half this recipe. Or roll half into a log, wrap in cling film and freeze. Cut into 15 pieces while still frozen and bake.
We made 12 chocolate chip cookies.
The cookie were very good, and the edges were very crisp and hard but soft in the middle.
