Coastal Wolves

    Coastal Wolves
    • Physical appearance and traits

The grey wolf generally looks similar to domestic sled dogs, but with a few differences. a larger head, longer legs, bigger feet, a straighter tail and a narrower chest.
    • Their habitat and environment

Coastal wolves are only found west of the Coast Mountain Range, in the remote temperate rainforest of coastal the great bear rainforest. This range includes the many islands and archipelagos on the coast, as they are swimmers.

    • Diet
Wolves eat salmon. In spawning season the fish make up 25% of these wolves diet. These wolves are beachcombers. They chew barnacles, scarf up the roe that herring lay on kelp, and feast on dead whales.
    • Threats - why do they need our protection?

They are being threatened on all sides by hunting, trapping and industry. Road building and clear cut logging have appeared to be harmful to wolves, not only destroying the forests they live in but making it easier for hunters to gain access to coast wolves.
